Challenges and Solutions of Climate Impact on Agriculture

English

Challenges and Solutions of Climate Impact on Agriculture explores issues arising from the changing climate for agricultural plants, with a soil-focused approach. Addressing the impacts on a range of important global food crops, it looks at issues of water and temperature and their impact on soil quality for production. Presented by a global team of experts, this book will be important for researchers seeking to understand specific challenges, and means of addressing those challenges effectively and efficiently. The agriculture sector is arguably one of the most sensitive to changes in the climate. Because the climate of a region determines the nature and characteristics of vegetation and crops, any change in the mean seasonal temperature and decrease in effective precipitation can reduce productive periods for crops, risking outbreaks of pests and disease and negatively affecting global food security. About

Dr Shah Fahad is Assistant Professor in the Department of Agronomy Abdul Wali Khan University Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pakistan. He obtained his PhD in Agronomy from Huazhong Agriculture University China. His postdoctoral research was in Agronomy at the Huazhong Agriculture University. He has published over 440 peer-reviewed papers (Impact factor 1810.45) on important aspects of climate change plant physiology and breeding plant nutrition plant stress responses and tolerance mechanisms and exogenous chemical priming-induced abiotic stress tolerance. He has also contributed 80 book chapters to various book editions published by Springer Wiley-Blackwell and Elsevier. He has worked and is presently continuing on a wide range of topics including climate change greenhouse emission gasses abiotic stresses tolerance roles of phytohormones and their interactions in abiotic stress responses heavy metals regulation of nutrient transport processes. Dr. Adnan Works as lecturer at the Dept. of Agriculture Univ. of Swabi. His research area is soil microbiology & plant nutrition. including FUE sustainable nutrients (NP) management via organic manures and bio-fertilizers like rhizobia and PSB N2 fixation by legumes for increasing cereal production organic wastes management via composting and soil carbon sequestration for sustainable agricultural production and reduced greenhouse gasses (CO2 & N2O) emission. Post Doc (Biofuel/Lipid Metabolism)-Michigan State University USA (2008-09); Post Doc (Enzymology)-Osaka Prefecture University Japan (2003-04); PhD (Biotechnology)- Osaka Prefecture University Japan (2000-03) Areas of specialty: Plant Biotechnology Enzymology) Plant Breeding. Research projects include sustainability of yield and soil fertility relating to crop rotation and incorporation of crop residues; screening of wheat genotypes under different levels of salt for yield and yield components; the role of biochar in mitigating ammonia and nitrous oxide discharge from urea fertilized wheat; impact of plant populations and nitrogen levels on maize. Rattan Lal Ph.D. is a Distinguished University Professor of Soil Science and Director of the Carbon Management and Sequestration Center The Ohio State University and an Adjunct Professor of University of Iceland. He received B.S. from Punjab Agricultural University Ludhiana; M.S. from Indian Agricultural Research Institute New Delhi and Ph.D. from the Ohio State University. He served as Sr. Research Fellow with the University of Sydney Australia (1968-69) Soil Physicist at IITA Ibadan Nigeria (1970-87). He has authored/co-authored near 900 refereed journal articles and over 500 book chapters has written 20 and edited/co-edited 69 books. Dr. Lal is the past President of the International Union of Soil Sciences (2017-2018). Taufiq Nawaz is an accomplished and dedicated student currently pursuing a PhD in molecular biology/biotechnology at South Dakota State University in the USA. His academic journey is a testament to his interdisciplinary approach holding a Masters degree in food science and technology as well as a Masters degree in political science and international relations. Taufiqs scholarly contributions are outstanding reflected in his authorship and co-authorship of 30 peer-reviewed papers and six book chapters. In addition he serves as a Co-editor for a book within his field and has provided invaluable peer reviews for esteemed journals published by Elsevier MDPI Frontiers Springer Nature and others. His research focuses on the application of synthetic biology to cyanobacteria with a specific focus on utilizing sunlight and N2 gas to create high-quality nutritional protein powder for human consumption. His ultimate goal is to pioneer innovative methods for biofuel production and the synthesis of high-value compounds aiming for a positive impact on society and the environment. Dr. Shah Saud received his Ph.D. and post-doctoral in Horticulture from Northeast Agricultural University Harbin China. He is currently working as an Associate Professor in the College of Life Science Linyi University China. Dr. Saud has published more than 190 research publications in peer-reviewed journals. He has edited ten books and written twenty-five book chapters on important aspects of plant physiology plant stress responses and environmental problems in relation to agricultural plants. According to Scopus Dr. Sauds publications have received roughly 14000 citations with an h- index of 56. He is an editor and reviewer for more than twenty peer- reviewed international journals.
