About Helen PaisIndre Cukuraite

Indre Cukuraite is a London-based photographer who has been inviting dogs to sit in her studio for the last three years. From early childhood she spent summers on her grandmothers farm surrounded by animals. In her work she aims to recreate the dynamic of the childhood relationship she had with dogs. Indre photographs them with dignity by positioning them higher and captures the human-like qualities in their body language and portrayal of emotions. The dogs stare through her camera lens directly into the viewers eye with gentle authority claiming to be an equal in their relationship with their human.
