English
By (author): Zhengqi Li
Current energy consumption of biomass accounts for about 14% of total world energy consumption, second only to coal, oil, and natural gas, and developing countries account for 75% of the biomass utilisation. According to the statistics from 1998 to 2003, biomass resources in China were equivalent to 700 million tons of standard coal, of which about half was from straw. Combustion is frequently used for energy conversion of biomass, and corn straw combustion in grate furnaces is widespread in China. Corn is one of China''''s three major crops and its straw is rich in resources. Understanding the mechanism of corn straw combustion in a fixed bed will help the clean and efficient use of corn straw as a source of energy. This book covers the issues of corn production and related discussion.
