Davis-Bacon Act: Background, Issues, Evolution

The Davis-Bacon Act requires employers to pay workers on federal construction projects at least the locally prevailing wage . In order to hire and retain workers, employers may pay more than the locally prevailing wage. Issues for Congress include the effects of the Davis-Bacon Act on the cost of construction and on the earnings of construction workers and their families.
