The Atlantic Meridional Overturning: Its Past, Present, and Future Role in the Earths Climate presents a comprehensive introduction to this important component of the global ocean circulation and climate system. The book covers all aspects of recent AMOC research: theory, ocean observations, palaeoceanographic data, and ocean and climate modelling. The Atlantic Meridional Overturning brings the reader up to date with what is happening in this exciting field of oceanographic research. As well as describing the physical processes that determine the AMOC, the author explores the impacts that changes in the AMOC can have on ocean biogeochemical processes and on the Earths climate. In particular, the possibility for abrupt changes. The book is written for Oceanographers including Professors, lecturers and researchers teaching and carrying out research in Oceanography.
