By (author): Michael Meyer-Blanck
The Protestant church theory views the church as a modern organization, as a social institution and as a staging of the Christian faith. Michael Meyer-Blanck explains sociological, legal, cultural and theological perspectives in his work in a generally understandable way and assigns them to each other. In 15 chapters, the author deals firstly with the basics of Protestant church theory (including a brief outline of church history), secondly with perspectives such as church and state, church and politics, Protestant and Catholic church and thirdly with the situations in which one comes into contact with the church : Church services on Sunday and in the individual CV, church membership, church tax, parish offices and church professions, committees and power structures. A chapter is also devoted to dealing with sexuality and sexualised violence. Finally, the aesthetic reality of the church plays an important role: the church building, the church art and the church music make up the beautiful side of the church, which is not only there for the church members.
