The year is 1798. David Stoddart lives in Edinburgh and is a respected town councillor by day and a thief by night. After dark he prowls the streets robbing houses. Although he fights against his passions he is drawn back to the underworld like a moth to a flame. Addicted to gambling Stoddart forms a gang to increase his takings, but one night a raid goes badly wrong and he must flee for his life. He is pursued by furies who demand their pound of flesh and will not be denied A Leap In The Dark shows how we are often caught on the horns of a dilemma; between good and evil, darkness and light. As Robert Louis Stevenson said: Man is not truly one, but truly two.
