He entered the University of Colorado in \u003cbr\u003e1920, majoring in history. Although he received an academic \u003cbr\u003escholarship, he had to work his way through the University. \u003cbr\u003eIn May 1924, he was graduated with. honors. Still he \u003cbr\u003ewas uncertain about his career. While walking across campus \u003cbr\u003eto work one day shortly before graduation, he was caught in \u003cbr\u003ea typical Colorado cloudburst. He found shelter in a nearby \u003cbr\u003ebuilding being used by Canton Christian College to recruit \u003cbr\u003efaculty for the forthcoming year. Waiting for the rain to \u003cbr\u003estop, Swisher expressed a mild interest in a position at the \u003cbr\u003eCollege and left his name and address. He was somewhat \u003cbr\u003esurprised several weeks later to be offered a contract.
