Prior to the turn of the nineteenth century, it was a sparsely populated group of hamlets with farms and a cottage industry. The building of the road to Manchester, in 1820, proved to be the stimulus needed to begin development of the area. Massive development a hundred years later transformed the area into an attractive and sought after place to live.  The early years of the twenty-first century are captured here and contrasted with Crosspool's past.
