She had lived in New York City for a decade but despite travelling the world, \nshe had yet to visit the rest of the US. All this changed when her friend, Tanya Rouse, invited her to her \nhometown of Dora, Alabama. Nagasaka continued to visit Dora over several years, gradually building a \nphotographic archive of her visits. A selection of these photographs are included in her first monograph \nDora, Yerkwood, Walker County, Alabama.\nLocated northwest of city of Birmingham, Dora is a town of about 2,300 people. Church, college football, \nand Jack’s —the regional fast food chain— are popular with the town’s residents and Nagasaka was \nintroduced to each on her visits. Although an outsider, Nagasaka gradually built trust and began to \nphotograph the town’s residents. After documenting Dora High School’s homecoming football game \nNagasaka’s connections grew exponentially. She found herself immersed in the lives of several Walker \nCounty residents and had the opportunity to tell their stories","brand":"GOST Books","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":47591866171736,"sku":"9781915423108","price":49.99,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0278\/1295\/4195\/files\/9781915423108_1694dd51-951d-44a2-b11f-2bd8bbc41692.jpg?v=1764700230","url":"https:\/\/agendabookshop.com\/products\/dora-yerkwood-walker-county-alabama","provider":"Agenda Bookshop","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
