About

Dr. Faisal Khosa is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiology at Vancouver General Hospital University of British Columbia. He is the Co-Vice Chair of Equity Diversity and Inclusion of the Radiology Department at UBC and the co-chair of the Leadership Working Group at the Vancouver Physician Staff Association. He is an expert on equity diversity and inclusion (EDI) and his work has been recognized through prestigious awards in the USA Canada Europe Middle East and South Asia including the May Cohen Equity Diversity and Gender Award of the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada and the Global Humanitarian Award from the American College of Radiology. Through his research mentoring of minorities and hosting EDI training workshops aimed at reducing inequities he is creating an environment in which EDI is sought and celebrated. Mr. Jeffrey Ding is a medical student at the University of British Columbia. He is an avid equity diversity and inclusion (EDI) researcher with specific focus on gender racial and ethnic disparities in medicine. He has published 19 peer-reviewed articles (PubMed) the majority of which are aimed at increasing awareness of workforce disparities and advocating for institutional action to combat systemic inequities. Mr. Ding has studied disparities within medical schools medical specialties professional societies journal editorial boards clinical trials and Canadian health authorities. He has been an effective voice at mobilizing and inspiring meaningful change at the national level through delivering and leading EDI workshops including the Canadian Conference on Physician Leadership and Vancouver Physician Staff Association. At these workshops he promoted actionable means to disassemble existing disparities and empowered attendees by supplying them with the necessary toolkits to maneuver through inequities and injustices. Dr. Sabeen Tiwana is the owner of a family dental practice in Vancouver Dunbar Smiles and a clinical instructor at the University of British Columbia. She has a keen interest in advocacy and mentoring of students from underrepresented groups including minorities and refugees. She also conducts a course on bias and harassment in the workplace (PubMed). Dr. Tiwana has authored manuscripts on gender racial and ethnic disparities. Through her research she has worked towards increasing awareness of workforce disparities and has advocated for institutional action to combat systemic inequities.
