Certains auteurs abordent ce thème sous l’angle méthodologique en prenant en compte des questions en rapport avec l’actualité de l’histoire de l’art, notamment à l’égard de la visualité et de la matérialité de ces objets. La plupart des auteurs font partie des quatorze comités nationaux du \u003ci\u003eCorpus Vitrearum Medii Aevi\u003c\/i\u003e et sont des historiens d’art spécialistes du vitrail reconnus sur le plan international.\u003cbr\u003e Mit dem kleinformatigen Glasgemälde oder der «Einzelscheibe» hat sich das 2008 durchgeführte XXIV. Internationale Kolloquium des \u003ci\u003eCorpus Vitrearum\u003c\/i\u003e eines Themas angenommen, das bislang stets im Schatten der monumentalen Glasmalerei stand. Durch das Zürcher Kolloquium hat dieses lange vernachlässigte kulturelle Erbe nun erstmals eine seiner Bedeutung entsprechende Würdigung erfahren. Dass die Einzelscheiben ein Glasmalereipatrimonium darstellen, das eine vertiefte Auseinandersetzung verdient, zeigen die in der Publikation veröffentlichten Beiträge, die den Gegenstand zum Beispiel unter terminologischen, entwicklungsgeschichtlichen, methodologischen und medientheoretischen Blickwinkeln betrachten. Die meisten Autoren sind Mitglieder der Nationalkomitees des \u003ci\u003eCorpus Vitrearum Medii Aevi\u003c\/i\u003e und international anerkannte Spezialisten auf dem Gebiet der Glasmalerei.\u003cbr\u003e The XXIVth International Colloquium of the\u003ci\u003e Corpus Vitrearum\u003c\/i\u003e in 2008 was devoted to the single stained-glass panel, a category that has long been overshadowed by monumental stained glass. The Colloquium more than lived up to expectations, turning the spotlight on this little-known area of our cultural heritage and revealing its full importance. The papers presented in this publication have stimulated discussion on questions of terminology, the distribution and historical development of these panels, and their architectural context. Certain authors, moreover, have approached the topic from a methodological point of view, taking into account current discourse in art history, particularly with regard to visuality and materiality.
