About
Rob Forsyth trained at Cambridge and Oxford Universities. His general paediatric training was in Nottingham before moving to Newcastle to complete a PhD in brain energy metabolism. After a fellowship in Vancouver he was appointed as Consultant and Senior Lecturer in child neurology in Newcastle in 1997. He has a research interest in recovery from paediatric acquired brain injury and a longstanding interest in medical education. He is a former National Training Adviser for the British Paediatric Neurology Association and secretary of the European Committee of National Training Advisers in child neurology. He is on the editorial board of European Journal of Paediatric Neurology and a former member of the editorial board of Developmental Medicine and Child Neurology. Richard Newton trained at King's and Guy's in London and then completed a GP Vocational training Scheme in Humberside. A growing interest in Paediatric Neurology then took him to Manchester where he completed his Higher Specialist Training. He has been a consultant in Paediatric Neurology to the Manchester Children's Hospitals since 1983 and their Director of Clinical Services later Medical Director from 1988 to 1997. He is the author of over 70 peer-reviewed papers 20 chapters and author/editor of 6 books with a special research interest in febrile seizures psycho-social stress in pregnancy and its relationship to adverse outcome the immunological basis of childhood encephalopathy headache and medical aspects of Down's syndrome. He is past-President of the British Paediatric Neurology Association and the European Association of Learning Disability Medicine (MAMH). He was Chairman of the Education and Training Committee of the European Paediatric Neurology Society from 2010-2014.
