Photocatalysis: Catalysts, Kinetics and Reactors

Covering all major aspects of photocatalysis, including the latest findings and insights on catalyst design, kinetic studies, and reactor engineering, this is a semi-empirical how-to guide, based on the authors' extensive experience and a thorough scan of the existing literature. Each chapter contains relevant examples and exercises, making the material suitable for university courses, while this knowledge is polished up to the engineering stage allowing its application in real reactors and purification units, with commercially produced reactors also considered. Valentin Parmon studied at the Moscow Physical and Technical Institute before joining the Institute of Chemical Physics Moscow as a junior research fellow from 1975 through 1977. He then moved to the Boreskov Institute of Catalysis in Novosibirsk Russia where he is currently Director. His main fields of interest are chemical kinetics and catalysis photochemistry and radiation chemistry. A member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and EFCATS Prof. Parmon is also on the Editorial Board of 14 journals. He has five books and 600 papers in refereed journals to his name. Alexander Vorontsov obtained his master's and doctoral degree from Novosibirsk State University and Boreskov Institute of Catalysis. After several years of postdoc studies on the destruction of toxic chemicals at the University of Cincinnati USA and University of Paris 7 France he took up his present position as head of the photocatalysis group at Boreskov Institute of Catalysis in Novosibirsk Russia. Dr. Vorontsov has authored over 30 scientific publications and received several national and international awards including INTAS NATO and Russian Science Support Foundation fellowships. Denis Kozlov is the Senior Scientist of the photocatalysis group at Boreskov Institute of Catalysis in Novosibirsk Russia. He gained his master's and doctoral degree from Novosibirsk State University and Boreskov Institute of Catalysis. He lectures on physical chemistry at Novosibirsk State University while working as the scientific consultant to Russian industrial manufacturers of water- and air-purifying devices using photocatalytic technology. Dr. Kozlov has authored over 25 scientific publications and national patents.
