Soap The Stamps, Jump The Tube

English

By (author): Gail Thibert

Its 1983. Convent-educated teenager Gail dyes her hair blue and escapes suburban boredom in Surrey to live a more exciting life among the colourful punks and squatters of London.

Leaving behind the twitching net curtains and disapproving looks of beige Morden (A.K.A. Bore-don), Gail places an advert in a music paper to seek out likeminded friends and weirdos, and so her adventure begins.

Soap The Stamps, Jump The Tube is an anarchic stomp through London in the 1970s and 1980s, and features a huge cast of colourful characters, a chronology of bizarre experiences, some curious employment prospects, and a full spectrum of hair colours.

*Warning: this book contains graphic scenes of hair crimper abuse that more delicate readers may find upsetting

About Gail Thibert

Gail Thibert grew up in Morden and attended a stuffy convent school in Wimbledon where she was expected to be a good catholic girl. But then punk happened. Aged 15 she rebelled by dyeing her hair bright blue and started to design and make her own clothes teaching herself to sew along the way.She held down a variety of menial jobs but found she excelled at reading Tarot cards. Gail is now known as one of the UKs top psychics and has had made many appearances in magazines and on TV notably giving readings to the cast of TOWIE and on a Sky cable TV show.Gail is still in love with punk music and playing in bands and currently sings with Sarah Pinks Gravediggers and Flowers in the Dustbin. She currently lives near Epping Forest with her 16 year-old son who was born deaf and with learning delays. She still works as a clairvoyant medium and still likes to sew when she has the time. She hopes to get another motorbike someday and is looking forward to revisiting Paros in Greece the island she fell in love with and visited many times.
