To commemorate the 45th anniversary of Gilbert Baker's original eight coloured Pride flag, current students and Alumni of the University of Suffolk were inspired to create short prose, poetry and non-fiction writing influenced by the themes Baker associated with each colour. A powerful collection that emphasises the importance of queer voices in rural settings, such as Suffolk, and the human desire to be heard or seen.
Charlie Brodie is a writer based in Norfolk but has predominately studied in Suffolk. They have previously worked as a Co-Editor for the LGBT segment of Student Life and spends most of their time writing stories that are focused on queer youth and life. Charlie attained their bachelor's degree in English at the University of Suffolk in 2020. They successfully completed their studies on the MA Creative and Critical Writing at University of Suffolk in 2023 and is currently working on their PhD proposal. They are currently writing a novel that is a queer adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Charlie is partnering with The Hold in Ipswich to curate and showcase an art and literature exhibition that highlights Suffolk Queer Voices through the theme of Metamorphosis. They are also the main editor for Suffolk Pride: We are the One in Five.
