{"product_id":"thatchers-children","title":"Thatcher's Children","description":"Thatcher’s Children was born out of a series first made in 1992 focusing on two parents and six \nchildren living in a hostel for homeless families in Blackpool, England. The project was made \nin response to a speech by Peter Lilley, then Secretary of State for Social Security, in which \nhe announced his determination to ‘close down the something-for-nothing society.’ French \nnewspaper Libération dispatched a journalist to northern England to find out what this society \nlooked like, and Easton was commissioned to take the accompanying photographs. His resulting \nmonochrome images of the overcrowded two-bedroom council flat in Blackpool sparked a \nreaction by both the public and the press. His images attached human faces and nuanced realities \nto a group of people casually maligned by politicians and media as an ‘underclass of scroungers.’","brand":"GOST Books","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":54223251898712,"sku":"9781910401842","price":55.99,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0278\/1295\/4195\/files\/9781910401842_d16ffcf4-27aa-42ef-9d69-c3c3ac569704.jpg?v=1764723634","url":"https:\/\/agendabookshop.com\/products\/thatchers-children","provider":"Agenda Bookshop","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
