All in the Family!: Fur, Hair and Feathers Living Together

English

By (author): Norm Mort

All in the Family takes an in-depth look at owning two or more pets. This insightful book is aimed at both current and potential pet owners who would like to share their home with an animal companion, but cant make up their mind what kind or if two or more animals might be a better solution. Through studies and lots of real-life examples, the author hopes to convince animal lovers that twos company and even three is definitely not a crowd! The book explores why more than one pet is a great idea for all concerned for both owners and pets. It is also highlights how pets could benefit from the presence of other animals in the household, and in some cases be given a completely new lease of life. Although many might feel two dogs or cats are plenty, it could be that more are even merrier. Expert advice is given on making the right choices to avoid a combination that clearly wont work, perhaps due to the breed of dog or cat; the owners location or residence; a current lifestyle situation, or the incompatibility of some species combinations. Combinations of dogs and cats, as well as other animals, are discussed, with clear evidence that pets such as rabbits, pigs and hedgehogs, among others, can all live happily in a mixed-species environment. Featuring interviews with real-life, multi-animal families, who relate their personal experiences of mixed species, the book is illustrated throughout with dynamic photographs of pets at play, eating, sleeping and interacting with each other, their owners and families, showing what fun, joy, laughter and love animals can bring to a home. About Norm Mort

Canadian Norm Mort has had a lifelong interest in historic vehicles and by the age of 10 was photographing old vehicles parked on the roadside; by the age of 12 he was the youngest member on the executive of the Antique and Classic Car Club of Canada. After graduating from the University of Toronto Norm became a teacher and librarian in the public school system. However it was not long before his love of old cars and trucks led him to become a freelance automotive writer for magazines and newspapers in the field of transport which he has now done for over 30 years. Norm has written over a dozen books about historic vehicles and has become Canada's most prolific writer on old cars and trucks. Norm is also an animal lover and has written books about travelling with pets (combining both of his passions) and about living with a pet menagerie. Norm lives in Canada with Scottish wife Sandy and a variety of pets. Their son Andrew has been the photographer for all of Norm's books.
