Time-travelling penguins Pablo and Splash must rescue their friend from the Ice Age in this brilliantly funny, full-colour graphic novel for young readers.
'Irresistibly funny' Guardian on Pablo and Splash
Pablo and Splash go to visit Professor O'Brain in her lab, only to find that their friend has been left behind in the Ice Age by her misbehaving time machine. The brave penguin buddies set out on a rescue mission – destination 68,000 years ago! When a Neanderthal man accidentally wanders into their time machine, it's not just the professor who is stuck in the wrong time period. But luckily a scientific breakthrough for Pablo combined with Splash's endlessly upbeat approach to life can save the day!
The race against time – several times over! – makes this pacey and hilarious graphic novel irresistible. Fans of Bunny vs Monkey or Dog Man will love it.
This is the second book about Pablo and Splash; the first is shortlisted for the British Book Award Children's Illustrated Book of the Year 2025.
'Gripping and enjoyable ... should be recommended whatever the age of the reader. A really fun, enjoyable read. 10/10' Irish Times on Pablo and Splash
The graphic novel series Pablo and Splash, which launched in 2024, is Sheena Dempsey's first work as author and illustrator. The first book in the series is shortlisted for the British Book Awards Children's Illustrated Book of the Year 2025. It grew out of a webcomic she created during the pandemic lockdowns that featured her and her husband as penguins!
Sheena is an illustrator whose books have won several awards including the Sheffield Book Awards for Yoga Babies by Fearne Cotton and Surrey Libraries' Children's Book Award for Dave Pigeon by Swapna Haddow. She has also been shortlisted for the Sainsbury's Children's Book Award.
Sheena was born in Cork, Ireland, but now lives in Folkestone, Kent, England.
