A wide-ranging exploration of South Africa's Mother City, Scenic Cape Town is both strikingly visual and full of detail.
With photographs by Mark Skinner and text by Sean Fraser, the book pays tribute to the different kinds of beauty Cape Town has on offer - its cultural heritage, historical charm and natural splendour.
From the brightly-coloured houses of the Malay Quarter and the bustle of Green Point market, to the nature reserve at Cape Point and the beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton, Scenic Cape Town presents the city in all its magnificence.
Now in its second edition, this classic coffee-table book has been is revised and updated to include forty per cent new images.
As a graduate of Journalism and Media Studies from Rhodes University, author Sean Fraser embarked on a career in publishing with the Struik group in 1990 where he started as a book editor, went on to manage the children's book division and then became the Managing Editor of the Globetrotter Travel Series for the company's international arm. With a keen interest in both travel and children's literature, he became a freelance editor and writer and worked with some of the country's finest book and magazine publishers.
A Capetonian by birth, Sean is the assistant editor of Discover Africa magazine and is also the author of Seven Days in Cape Town, Scenic Cape Town, Scenic South Africa and co-author of First Field Guides of Southern Africa, a series of natural history guides for young adults. He is married with two sons and continues to freelance from his home in Cape Town.
