The collection was originally published in Hungary,where the inclusion of LGBTQ+ characters sparked political controversy. It quickly became an important symbol in the fight for equality and against discrimination in Hungary and enjoyed a vast wave of support both within and outside the country.

Boldizsár M. Nagy is an editor, translator and journalist.
Anna Bentley taught English as a foreign language in New York and Kecskemét, Hungary, before moving to Budapest, where she has lived since 2000. She is an experienced translator of books for children and adults, including the picture book Arnica, the Duck Princess, written by Ervin Lázár, named a Times Children’s Book of the Week in 2019.
Lilla Bölecz is a Hungarian graphic artist and illustrator, whose work is inspired by, among other things, mysticism, nature and mythology.
