Written by long-term local and lover of all things wine Marcus Rees, Oxfordshire Uncorked is the product of years of passion and expertise. Profiling vineyards and wineries across Oxfordshire and the North Cotswolds, this no-frills guide reveals how the landscape's rolling hills provide the ideal conditions for top-class wine production. With tasting notes, visitor information, and insights from the grape-growers themselves, it offers an in-depth look into each part of the winemaking process. The perfect travel companion, but written for locals and wine lovers alike, Oxfordshire Uncorked tells the unsung story of English wine, the land it's grown on, and the very people behind the bottle. With stunning photography of England's picturesque countryside, prepare for a taste of French wine country right on your doorstep.
Since writing his first comprehensive guide to Oxford's pubs and college bars in 1993, Marcus has been a keen writer. He fell in love with Oxfordshire following his studies at Oxford University in the '90s, and couldn't help but return in 2010, living in Witney, Minster Lovell, Charlbury and now Wallingford. After careers in retail buying and professional brewing, he now shares his love of wine, ale and Oxfordshire as a tour guide and writer. Marcus believes in a no-fuss, plain-English approach to drinks dialogue and has over 100 vineyard visits to thank for his depth of knowledge. When he's not tasting and touring, he can be found exploring the countryside by bicycle or cooking at home.
