John Agard is an acclaimed poet, playwright and children’s author. Born in Guyana, Agard moved to Britain in 1977 where he worked with the Commonwealth Institute giving talks, readings and workshops in thousands of schools around the country. His poetry features on the English GCSE syllabus and he has won numerous awards for his work, including the Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry in 2012 and the BookTrust Lifetime Achievement award in 2021.
