The progenitors, the earliest Lambrettas – the 125 A and B - the scooters that established one of the symbols in the history of personal transportation in 1947.
The first model was conceived in Rome as early as 1944, at the home of Ferdinando Innocenti; it had yet to be baptised as the Lambretta and was known simply as the “Esperimento Tipo 0”. After a full three years of research, trials and road tests the Lambretta was finally ready to be introduced to the international public; at the Paris Motorcycle Fair ,the new Innocenti product made its official debut in the European scooter world.
Once again, this monograph bears the signature of Vittorio Tessera, Italy’s leading expert on the Innocenti marque and the Lambretta in particular.
The book surveys every version of these early Lambrettas, with chapters on technical details and others more related to advertising and social aspects.
Born in 1960, Vittorio Tessera qualified as a mechanic in 1979 and opened Italy's first workshop for the restoration of classic scooters. In 1988 founded the Italian Lambretta Club, wich boasts today over 2,000 members. In 2001 he founded the 'Scooter & Lambretta Museum', the most imprtant such institution in Europe. Today he actively contributes to the most important Italian motorcycle magazines. He is the author of 'Innocenti Lambretta. The definitive history' (2012), 'Lambretta. Restoration Guide' (2012), 'Lambretta. Illustrated guide to identification' (2013).
