'The child-appeal of Funny Bums, Freaky Beaks and Other Incredible Creature Features isn't limited to the title' – Guardian

A delightful compendium of all the most unusual and unexpected features in the animal kingdom, from puzzling toes to weird ears, and all the other body parts in between!

These creatures have strange features – but they all serve a very useful purpose. This charming and visually appealing book carries the underlying message that everybody and everything is strange and wonderful in its own way – difference should be celebrated!

'A fascinating introduction to the diversity of life on earth ... This compendium intrigues and delights the reader. It celebrates evolution and creates a feeling of awe and wonder at the variety of the natural world. The book informs and inspires and can be dipped into again and again. Highly recommended for children aged 6+' – The English Association

Sean Taylor is an award-winning author of books for young readers of many different ages. His picture books include 'Tickling Tigers' and 'When a Monster is Born' (which has been translated into 8 different languages). As well as writing, Sean has many years' experience visiting schools, where he works with poetry and storytelling to encourage young people to write themselves. He lives partly in England (where he was born) and partly in Brazil (where his wife is from). Sarah Edmonds is a freelance illustrator on projects with publishers, museums, national parks and charities. Alongside this, her collection of playful illustrated gifts has grown and is sold online and in gift shops. Sarah is inspired by vintage print production, instructional children's illustration and mid-century colour palettes. Those influences show - she has a particular eye for colour and a unique, memorable palette. Her previous non-fiction titles include: Save Our Species by Dominic Couzens (HarperCollins), All Things Change by Anna Claybourne (Welbeck) and Funny Bums, Freaky Beaks by Sean Taylor and ecologist Alex Morss (Welbeck). Sarah lives by the sea in Worthing, with her partner and their two young children.
