This book showcases the work of contemporary ink artist Christina Tung Wai.
Feathers and Taoist philosophy have been recurring subjects in her paintings; for her the feather symbolises her aspirations for freedom following a previous career in the finance sector.
Initially working on Chinese rice paper and Japanese linen paper, she has recently chosen to explore more innovative materials such as tissue paper and leather, turning ordinary things into extraordinary art.
Christina Tung Wai is a Hong Kong based contemporary ink artist and curator. In 2020 she was the winner of the Salvatore Ferragamo shoe design collaboration between Hong Kong Art Gallery Association (HKAGA) and prestigious Italian brand Salvatore Ferragamo. She also had work featured at the Beijing International Art Biennale and a piece selected as one of 500 ink masterpieces for the Ink Global 2020 exhibition. In 2023 she was awarded first prize at the Hong Kong Golden Bauhinia Cup New Ink Paintings competition.
