About Tony Bonning

Tony Bonning was born into a Scots-speaking farming family in South-West Scotland in 1948. He is a bestselling author top storyteller and versatile singer and musician and does over two hundred shows a year for children as his alter-ego Aiken Drum. He is founder of the Galloway Childrens Festival co-founder and play leader of the Play-it-by-Ear music groups and co-founder of the national poetry magazine Markings. He was also part of the group that established the Wickerman Festival in 2002 and ran the Childrens Area for thirteen years. In his spare time he goes hillwalking with his wife Jo to write poetry. Tony has seven children and one god-daughter.
