About

Lérè Adéymí PhD (Introduction) is Professor of Yorùbá Literature and Culture in the Department of Linguistics and Nigerian Languages University of Ilrin Nigeria. He obtained his first second and PhD degrees from the same university between 1988 and 2003 and was head of his department from 2005 to 2006 and 2008 to 2009. His areas of specialization are Yorùbá literature and culture particularly oral traditions and folklores. He has published scholarly articles and textbooks in the area of Yoruba studies and was the former Associate Editor of Ilrin Journal of Linguistics Literature and Culture (IJLLC). Adéymí is also a published creative writer. His most recent novel is entitled Oba Méwàá Ìgbà Méwàá (2020 Ten Kings Ten Epochs). His other creative works are: Òdájú Ni Wón (2018 They Are Ruthless) Ìsèlú Onírèké `Ogè (2014 The Politics of Sweetness and Bitterness) Kr Tó Day (2011 Before the Dawn of Joy) Kò Sáyè Láàfin (2008 No Vacancy in the Palace) gá Nìyáà Mi (2005 My Mother is Great) and Àkùk Gàgàrà (2001 The Overmighty Cock).  Jake Jackson has written edited and contributed to over 20 books. Related works include studies of Babylonian creation myths the philosophy to time and William Blake's use of mythology in his visionary literature.
