Artists Living with Art is full of fascinating and often surprising revelations about the artworks a select group of the world’s most influential contemporary artists choose to collect and display in the intimacy of their own homes. (Just as Andy Warhol famously collected cookie jars, so do these 25 artists, all living in New York, collect art and in some cases, mundane objects they cherish as art.) The works they display reflect remarkably diverse, eclectic and often unexpected tastes. Authors Stacey Goergen and Amanda Benchley gained unprecedented access into each home for the photography and interviews, and highly acclaimed photographer Oberto Gili was commissioned to shoot the these homes especially for the book. Intimacies from such artists as Cindy Sherman, Brice Marden, Eric Fishl, Michelle Oka Doner and Will Cotton are shared through the engaging, accessible text and gorgeous photography

Stacey Goergen is an independent curator and journalist. She is the director of SmartSpaces, a non-profit organization that installs contemporary art in vacant urban locations. Previously, she worked in the curatorial department at the Whitney Museum of American Art. She has been published in Whitney Museum catalogues, as well as the Wall Street Journal, Gotham Magazine, Hampton’s Magazine and Art Basel Miami Beach Magazine. She serves on the boards of The Drawing Center, Princeton University Art Museum, Friends of the Hudson River Park, and is a member f the Producer’s Council at the New Museum of Contemporary Art.Amanda Benchley is an independent filmmaker and journalist. She has produced short films for the New York Historical Society and the Smithsonian Institute and her writing has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Observer and the Huffington Post. She is the chair of the board of the Maysles Documentary Center.
Oberto Gili is a highly acclaimed photographer who, during his 40-year career has been one of the most prolific lenses in the world of editorial photography, with his images of fashion and interiors appearing in such magazines as House & Garden, Town & Country and Vogue. His most recent book was Home Sweet Home (Rizzoli, 2011).
