Joseph J. Disa, MD, FACS is Associate Attending Surgeon of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Associate Professor of Surgery at Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York. Dr. Disa completed his residency training in plastic surgery at Johns Hopkins/University of Maryland Combined Training Program in Baltimore, Maryland, and completed a fellowship in reconstructive microsurgery at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Disa is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons and the American Board of Surgery. He is actively involved in multiple plastic surgical organizations, including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Plastic Surgery Education Foundation, the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, and the Northeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons. He lectures both nationally and internationally on breast reconstruction.
Marie Czenko Kuechel, MA is the founder and president of Czenko Kuechel Consulting, Ltd, a firm focused on the comprehensive development, management, and distribution of medical communication programs. Clients have included the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and pharmaceutical companies, as well as individual board-certified physicians practicing in their area of specialization. Ms. Kuechel is fervent in upholding communication as the foundation for the safety, satisfaction, and fulfillment of aesthetic patients. An experienced media and publicity professional, Ms. Kuechel entered the world of medical communications in 1992 at the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, where she developed print and electronic public and patient education campaigns specific to aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery treatments and procedures. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, completing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University and Harvard University, and Master of Arts in Journalism from The Ohio State University.
