  • Where does it rain diamonds?
  • What does a comet smell like?
  • Why would you keep a dog up your sleeve?
  • Where can you find fish that live in trees?
  • And who exactly was William Johnson Hippopotamus?

From frog trousers and glass trees to lawnmowing camels and chimpanzee painters, this is a book made for curious minds and giggly bedtimes. Each bite-sized story is perfect for winding down, sparking questions and filling young heads with big, brilliant thoughts.

Written by former QI writer Edward Brooke-Hitching and brought to life with whimsical illustrations by Oksana Drachkovska, this is non-fiction at its most playful and surprising. Whether read aloud or under the covers with a torch, it’s the kind of book kids will return to night after night.

A brilliant gift for curious minds, and a treasure trove of facts to enjoy together or alone, 365 Amazing True Things to Read in Bed will fill your dreams with adventure – and leave you ready to wake up and make your own.

Edward Brooke-Hitching is a former long-serving ‘QI Elf’ (factfinder and scriptwriter for the hit BBC television series QI) turned bestselling author of nonfiction works of curious history. A Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, he grew up in a rare book shop before working for a London auctioneer, and now lives in his own dusty heap of old paintings, books and maps in Berkshire with his Labrador Annie Jump Cannon.

Oksana Drachkovska was born in Chernivtsi (Ukraine) in 1987. She grew up in Chernivtsi and moved on to study at an art college located in the Carpathians then moved to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lviv, where she's been living for the past 12 years. There are quite a few things that inspire her (some of them might be a little weird)—trees, the sea and the ocean, as well as birds and clouds.
