A greatest hits tour of death, 99 Ways to Die is a curation of all the ways you can possibly die, from hypertension to hippopotamus gouging and from altitude sickness to anthrax.

As an emergency medicine doctor, Dr. Ashely Alker has spent a career outwitting death. Drawing on stories from her life and medical practice, she takes readers on a journey through A&E that manages to be both compassionate and darkly hilarious, covering lethal agents including sex, poison, drugs, biological warfare, disease, animals, crime, the elements, and much more. Learn that the parasite of the schistosome fresh water snail caused such widespread blood in the urine that Ancient Egyptians thought it was a sign of male menstruation, Nero used to poison enemies with naturally occurring cyanide found in cherry pips, and that hippos can run at 30 miles an hour and kill 500 fisherman a year.

Dr Alker's 99 Ways to Die is shocking, laugh-out-loud funny and it might just save your life.
