World traveler and acclaimed photographer Scott Mead documents evocative vistas from above the clouds. Mead views this series as an "attempt to share an overall internal and external voyage and its insights, thoughts, and feelings” as he gazes over the endless horizon, full of possibilities. Mountains scattered with cloud shadow, the ripples of distant ocean waves, glittering city lights, and the abstract geography of farmland and ice-covered ocean are all beautifully captured in this thought-provoking collection of photography. In an introductory essay Mead discusses his photographic career as an expression of a deeply-lived life of exploration, reflection and discovery.
Scott Mead is an American-born photographer and philanthropist living in London. A photographer for many years before a career in investment banking, he returned to photography over ten years ago after rediscovering boxes in his attic of his large-format negatives and prints, unopened for decades. Numerous exhibitions and group shows have since followed, and his works are held in many private and institutional collections around the world. Scott studied with renowned photographers William Eggleston and Emmet Gowin, both of whom have been important influences on his work.
