The extraordinary true story of hope, courage and survival and one boy's journey across the world to find safety

When Mir was thirteen, he was forced to flee his village in the mountains of Afghanistan. Separated from his family he embarked on an astonishing journey across snowy mountains, treacherous land and unforgiving seas, until he reached Dover clinging to the underside of a lorry.

It was in the UK that he realised his journey had only just begun. This is Mir's unbelievable story of seeking a better life and education, and the marks left by displacement.

Mir Rahimi was born in Afghanistan and moved to the UK in 2001. He entered secondary school for the first time that year at the age of fourteen and, a decade later, graduated with a master's degree in Political Theory from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Mir has dedicated himself to serving humanity and has worked with charities, local authorities, and the United Nations to help relieve the suffering of vulnerable people, particularly children and young people affected by wars and conflicts worldwide.

Mir Rahimi previously published under the pseudonym Arman Azadi, which meant hope and freedom, and was used to ensure the safety of the author's family in Afghanistan.
