Quizzed for Accelerated Reader

A laugh-out-loud animal adventure, ideal for children practising their reading at home or in school.

Alfie the meerkat is fed up of doing what he's told. Life should be more than about digging holes and standing on guard duty. He wants adventure and excitement, not babysitting duty! So when a film crew for a nature programme arrives in the desert, Alfie decides to take action. Is this his chance to become a star?

This show-stopping adventure from award-winning author Karen Wallace (author of the Alice the Anteater series) is perfect for children who are learning to read by themselves and for Key Stage 1. Features engaging illustrations by Ellie O'Shea and quirky characters young readers will find hard to resist.

'Every child needs a Bloomsbury Young Reader. Fun, stretching, just the right length, full of adventurous vocabulary and punctuation.' - Julie-Ann McCulloch, Teacher

Karen Wallace is an award-winning author of children's books for all ages. Her Goose Pimple Bay Sagas was a World Book Day recommended read in 2008 and Li Fu's Great Aim was chosen for the 2008 Boys into Books Promotion. Karen has also created the popular Alice the Anteater books.

Ellie O'Shea is a coffee addict, an avid snowboarder and bad joke teller. She completed her degree in Illustration in Plymouth and is now living in Worcester with her (equally bad joke-telling) boyfriend. They love lazy Sundays and watching cartoons all day, which are her biggest inspiration for drawing. She has always loved watching cartoons and when she was around 8 she decided, 'Hey, I want to draw like that!'. So she picked up her pencil, and here she is.
