Celebrate the 160th anniversary of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland!
Lewis Carroll's timeless heroine Alice has been enchanting children for 160 years. Curious Alice, the bossy White Rabbit, the formidable Queen of Hearts, the grinning Cheshire Cat and the Mad Hatter are among the best-loved, most iconic literary creations of all time.
Macmillan was the original publisher of Alice in 1865, and is proud to remain true to the vision of its creators. Every bit as iconic as Lewis Carroll’s text are Sir John Tenniel's remarkable black line illustrations, perfectly capturing the combination of the ordinary and the extraordinary at the heart of Wonderland. This beautiful edition brings the world of Wonderland to life like never before!
Part of The Macmillan Alice range, celebrating the 160th anniversary of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland with new editions of the classic books, plus The Complete Alice, The Macmillan Alice Pack of Cards, and The Nursery Alice.
Lewis Carroll was the pen-name of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson. Born in 1832, Dodgson was a mathematics tutor at Christ Church College, Oxford, where he met Alice Liddell, daughter of the dean, and inspiration for Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The book and its sequel, Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There, have delighted children all over the world for 160 years.
Sir John Tenniel was already a renowned cartoonist when he was invited to produce illustrations for Alice. His exquisite engravings are among the most iconic and best loved images in the world.
