Pairing Lewis Carroll's unforgettable characters and world full of chaos and imagination with Helen Oxenbury's award-winning playful illustrations, this Walker Illustrated Classic is a book to treasure, the perfect gift for every family.

One hot summer's day, a rabbit scampers past Alice wearing a waistcoat. Not quite believing it, she follows - and when he disappears down a rabbit hole, how can she do anything but follow?!

So begins an adventure in which Alice meets unforgettable characters including a Mad Hatter, a grinning Cheshire Cat and the terrifying Queen of Hearts. Wonderland is truly a place of wonder!

Winner of the prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal, this gift edition of one of the world's most beloved stories has colour illustrations throughout by the multi-million-selling Helen Oxenbury, illustrator of We're Going on a Bear Hunt and Oh Dear, Look What I Got!

Lewis Carroll (1832-98) was the pseudonym of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, who taught mathematics at Christ Church College, Oxford. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland grew from a tale he told eleven-year-old Alice Liddell and a true heroine was born - spirited and resourceful in the face of confusion.

Helen Oxenbury is one of today's foremost illustrators and has won many awards, including the Kate Greenaway twice - in 1969 for The Quangle Wangle's Hat and The Dragon of an Ordinary Family and again in 1999 for Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. She has also won the Smarties Book Prize three times, for Farmer Duck, We're Going on a Bear Hunt and So Much. She is best known for the multi-million-copy-selling picture book We're Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen, and the pair recently reunited for a follow-up, Oh Dear, Look What I Got!
