A heartwarming Passover picture book about the beloved Jewish holiday from award-winning author Leslie Kimmelman. A young boy and his family gather together to host a seder and celebrate the Festival of Freedom, filled with delicious dishes and an endless parade of guests.

For Ethan and his family, Passover, the Festival of Freedom, is a holiday full of longstanding traditions, food, family, and great company. And at Ethan’s family seder, one message of the Haggadah is never forgotten: let all who are hungry, come and eat. This year, however, Ethan is anticipating a very small seder. Until . . . Knock, Knock, Knock.

Each unexpected guest brings something surprising and special, reminding us all that the seder’s most essential ingredient is community.

Leslie Kimmelman (she/her) is the author of more than fifty children's books, including The Eight Knights of Hanukkah, Eight Nights of Lights, The Little Red Hen and the Passover Matzah, and Write On, Irving Berlin!, which are all Sydney Taylor Notable Books, and the Sydney Taylor Honor Book Everybody Says Shalom. She lives in the New York City area, where she has hosted many lively seders, complete with mismatched chairs. Visit her at lesliekimmelman.com. Alyssa Russell (she/her) is an illustrator living in Austin, Texas, and a graduate of Ringling College of Art and Design. The illustrator of Fanny’s Big Idea by Richard Michelson, she is passionate about the use of fantasy as a medium for emotional expression through heartfelt characters and meaningful narratives. Alyssa is aesthetically drawn to light, gesture, and expressive use of texture stemming from her love of vintage illustrators such as Hilary Knight, Garth Williams, and Maurice Sendak. When she is not illustrating, she can be found bouldering, reading philosophy, or strumming on her guitar. Visit her at alyssarussellillustration.com.
