The trend in the scholarship of Luke has been that of presenting Luke as being interested in the survival of Christianity within the Power apparatus of the Roman world. The intention of this research, however, is to show the defiance and fearlessness of Luke in dealing with the rich and the Powerful. Innocent Emezie Ezeani, a catholic priest from Arondizuogu/Nigeria, did his Bachelor’s degree programme in Philosophy in Nigeria before coming to Austria (Innsbruck) and Germany (Würzburg) for higher studies in Philosophy and Theology. In the course of these studies, he visited many lectures in Sociology. This work is his doctorate research in New Testament exegesis (Theology).
