The Art of Natori is sure to bring out the inner artist in every aficionado of fashion, style, art and design.
Josie Cruz Natori invites us behind the scenes of her imagination, visually linking her sources of inspiration with her fashion and design expertise of thirty years.
Showcases ancient paintings, antique shoes, beautiful porcelain, and more that inspire Natori's East meets West ethos.
The Art of Natori shows us the inspiration behind the luxury, fashion and femininity that has come to be synonymous with the Natori brand. The Natori company has grown into a powerful international force within the design and fashion industry-an influence based on an extraordinary track record of innovation, design sophistication, and quality channeled through the forceful talents of its creator, Josie Cruz Natori.
In the thirty years since Josie Natori began her brand as a one-woman venture, she has developed an ethos and philosophy derived from her Filipino background, American education, and Japanese husband's culture. The Art of Natori reveals how these elements, in combination, have been her inspiration and have given her a great arc of success.
Josie Natori, founder and CEO of Natori Company, literally reconfigured an industry, erasing the boundary between innerwear and outerwear and bringing elegant, sensuous lingerie into the light of day. Born in the Philippines, she was a soloist at age nine with the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra and moved to New York to study economics at age seventeen. She was the first woman vice-president in investment banking at Merrill Lynch and in 1977 she began Natori. Her awards include the Galleon Award; she served as a delegate to the Clinton Economic Summit Conference in 1992 and in 1993 she served as Commissioner to the White House Conference on Small Business. In 2007 she will be awarded the Lakundula Award by the President of the Philippines and the Peopling of America Award by the Ellis Island Foundation. She lives with her husband and son in New York City.
