Featuring exclusive concept art, character and costume sketches, and vehicle and creature designs by Lucasfilm Publishing and its partners, this official companion to Star Wars: The High Republic (Phases II and III) offers fans a definitive, behind-the-scenes look at the continuing adventures within this ambitious era of Star Wars storytelling

The Art of Star Wars: The High Republic (Volume II) takes fans behind the scenes of Phases II and III of Lucasfilm Publishing’s massive crossover event.

Collecting the latest concept art of the new characters, worlds, ships, and creatures of The High Republic—designed jointly by the Lucasfilm visualists and a team of legendary comic book and Star Wars artists, including Phil Noto, Iain McCaig, and Ario Anindito, among many others—and presented alongside development materials and interviews with The High Republic architects, this is an essential guide to the creation, design, and realization of a new era of Star Wars storytelling.

The Art of Star Wars: The High Republic (Volume II) is the only book to explore all facets of the design and artistic direction of a story that spans comic books, novels, and young adult books, taking Star Wars fans of all ages on a deep dive into the development of the New York Times bestselling series.

Kristin Baver is editor-in-chief of StarWars.com, and author of Skywalker: A Family at War. She lives in San Francisco, California.

A fan favorite for her portrayal of Lizzy on the hit Netflix series Russian Doll, Rebecca Henderson dazzles audiences with her charisma and knack for selecting impactful roles. Henderson’s credits include The Good House, Inventing Anna, Orange is the New Black, Westworld, and the Disney+ Star Wars series The Acolyte, in which she portrayed the wise Jedi Master Vernestra Rwoh. In addition to her work as an actor, Rebecca is a champion of the LGBTQIA+ community and an avid animal lover. A native of Toronto, Rebecca moved to New York for college and holds an MFA from Columbia University. She lives in Brooklyn with her family.

Iain McCaig divides his energies between a lifelong love of storytelling and a passionate belief that everyone in the world can learn to draw. As of 2025, McCaig has worked for 45 years in the entertainment industry. Many of his creations have become pop-culture icons, like his cover for Jethro Tull’s The Broadswordand the Beast or his Star Wars designs of Padmé Amidala and Darth Maul. He has created art for games, from Lucasfilm Games’ The Secret of Monkey Island to Respawn’s Titanfall, and for many films, among them Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Interview with the Vampire, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Hook, Peter Pan, Charlotte’s Web, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Guardians of the Galaxy, The Avengers, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Disney’s live-action The Jungle Book, and the ongoing Star Wars movies, as well as designs for the Star Wars: The High Republic novels and comics and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge themed areas in the Walt Disney resorts. In his other life, McCaig writes and illustrates books and screenplays.
