"The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight" showcases classic aircraft of the Second World War, including an Avro Lancaster, seven Supermarine Spitfires, two Hawker Hurricanes, a Douglas Dakota and two de Havilland Chipmunks. To mark the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight's formation, Richard Winslade presents a detailed study of one of one of the world's most important airworthy historic aircraft collections. This superbly illustrated book uses Richard's own original high quality colour photography - much of it air-to-air - together with carefully researched and well-informed extended captions. The author examines restoration processes and the constant engineering work necessary to keeping these aircraft in fully operational order.
Richard Winslade is best known as a photographer in the fields of advertising and aviation. His commercial clients include Westland Helicopters, Vickers, Rolls-Royce, du Pont, The Sunday Times and Rank Xerox. His aviation work has been published in the leading aviation journals including Aeroplane Monthly, FlyPast, Air and Space, and Flight International. He lives in Stroud.
