Giraffe is Left Out offers a gentle introduction to the concept of friendship and feeling included for young children.

When Leopard arrives at Jungle School, Giraffe doesn't want to include him and tries to exclude him from joining in. So when Leopard has a birthday party he doesn't invite Giraffe, even though he has invited all his friends. Slowly Giraffe begins to understand how Leopard must have felt when he started school. Can the two of them learn to become friends after all?

This simple, engaging story is the perfect way to introduce young children to what bullying is, and help them become aware of how their behaviour can impact on other children. There are even suggestions for activities and ideas to talk through together to help children understand.

The Behaviour Matters series of picture books provide a gentle means of discussing emotions, boosting self-esteem and reinforcing good behaviour. Supports the Personal, Social and Emotional Development Area of Learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage, and is also suitable for use with children in KS1 and can be used to discuss values. Suitable for children age 3+.

'Excellent for sharing and encouraging discussion... we can all learn from the approach taken in this series.' Parents in Touch

Sue Graves has been a freelance children's author for more than 17 years. She has written over two hundred books for children from pre-school up to 15+ years. She writes fiction and non-fiction, plays and poetry across the age ranges. Sue loves reading all sorts of books and is at her happiest when she has a book in her hand. She also loves painting in watercolours, playing tennis and badminton and going for long walks in the country with her husband and children. Illustrator and musician Trevor Dunton has loved drawing animals since he was in short trousers. OK, he was wearing short trousers yesterday, but it was a warm day and anyway, it's a figure of speech. A keen tennis player and apiarist, if he isn't hitting the fluff of a ball, he can generally be found in a field in Kent serenading his bees.
