Billy Mackay lived both the dream and the nightmare after signing for Rangers in 1976. Blessed with blistering pace and a natural eye for goal, he was the most sought-after young winger in Britain. Mackay chose Rangers, where Jock Wallace hailed him as ‘the new George Best’. He made his debut at just 16 and spent eight years at Ibrox during one of the club’s most turbulent eras.
