The world's third-largest island, Borneo is without doubt one of the world's great birding destinations. Divided between Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei, Borneo is a front-running biodiversity hotspot, and home to an avifauna featuring around 600 recorded bird species, including a host of charismatic endemic species and subspecies that are confined to this special island.

She grew up in Australia and has been travelling and birding in Asia for over 30 years now. A particular fascination with the tropical forests of the Sundaic region led to her writing the Birds of Borneo field guide, also published by Helm. Many years of exploration dealing with the heat, humidity and biting invertebrates have not dimmed her enthusiasm one little bit for the amazing biodiversity and the wonderful birds of this very special region.
