This exciting educational fiction book follows the adventures of Smudge, a colourful French Bulldog, and teaches young readers all about the planets and where they are located in the solar system.
When the rocket lands on Planet Fun! Smudge is greeted by King Krump and the Funky Krumps (street dancing aliens) who give him a very warm welcome. Smudge then goes to a party in Krump Hall and has fun in a fruity playground and watches a firework display beside a wobbly jelly lake.
Smudge has a great time and the King gives him a gift as he leaves then Smudge discovers that it's all been a dream and next time he goes to sleep he's heading off to have a jungle with animals galore so join him if you're brave enough to discover and explore.
The book is written in catchy rhyme and includes four planet related activity sheets and a funky rap which teaches children about the characteristics of each planet in a fun and interactive way.

Hello and thank you for reading my Bio; I'm Jane Keightley - mum to two sons, a daughter and an adorable Tabby cat!
I live in a tiny hamlet in the Isle of Axholme and have a very varied skill set but have always wanted to be a published author and when I was made redundant in Lockdown and decided to turn my lifelong dream into reality.
I've really enjoyed the journey from writing the manuscript to editing and submitting for publication. I was very lucky to find an incredibly talented illustrator whose brief was to create bright, bold images that bring the words to life.
Blast Off to Planet Fun! was released in April 2022 and features a colourful Bulldog called Smudge, his intergalactic adventures through the solar system and his exciting trip to Planet Fun!
My next book called Jamming in the Jungle is currently being illustrated and will be published in November 2022. I have started my third book which teaches young readers how to reduce their carbon footprint and ways to save the planet for future generations.
I'm a Literacy Champion with the National Literacy Trust and do various events and school visits to read the book to the children and get creative with decorating stones with paint pens, making card Smudges with felt patches and icing French Bulldog shaped gingerbread then eating Smudge!
