Bloxwich has a long history. From Saxon times the village was a substantial settlement which lay just within the parish boundary of Walsall in an area which became known in the Middle Ages as 'The Foreign'. Until early last century, Bloxwich was notable as a farming community although coalmining and manufacturing industries developed steadily from the late seventeenth century. It is still renowned for its specialist craft industries such as awl-blade making and formerly for Old Hall stainless steel tableware.

This book chronciles the history of Bloxwich over the past one hundred years or so. Over two hundred previously unpublished photographs have been selected from private collections and proudly present a record of the activities and achievements of a village and its people since the dawn of photography.
