1951. Hollywood. Songwriter Ernie Case has an Oscar on the shelf, an aspiring actress in his bed, and a screenplay getting the green-light from Studio. Life, it seems, is looking up.

Only two hurdles lie ahead: he needs the mysterious Diva as his leading lady and he needs to keep well clear of Senator McCarthy's anti-communist witch hunt. But, as his relationship with Diva deepens, he realises that some things are more important than hit songs sung by Sinatra.

Nigel Gearing is a dramatist and translator who has had work performed in the UK, Europe and the USA. He has also written extensively for BBC Radio and for the cinema. Nigel has also collaborated on a number of film-scenarios, most notably Ascendancy (dir. Bennett, 1981) and Intimacy (dir. Chéreau, 2001), both of which won Best Film at the Berlin Film Festival. Theatre work most recently produced includes a stage adaptation of Le Grand Meaulnes and French translations of Edward II and The Duchess Of Malfi.
