Introducing Boots and Cats, silly brilliant fun from author Hazel Gardner and prolific illustrator Fred Blunt.
With bobbing bunnies, guinea pig wigs and a high-wire act from an elephant this innovative, entertaining book is bursting with wild, unexpected fun with sounds. Inspired by the rhythms of beatboxing, it's hilariously satisfying to read aloud. Beatbox along with the audio QR code, toe-tapping guaranteed!
Using the well-known beatboxing starting point pattern of Boots and Cats this book takes you on a fantastical, magical ride, down to a deep-sea diner, a nightclub where ducks dance and an exhilarating rollercoaster ride.
Bold, wacky and brilliantly funny, Boots and Cats tickles the imagination, reminding us all to find the fun in reading aloud - and to do it together!
Hazel Gardner is a children’s author who lives in Lancashire with her human, cat and tortoise family. She has a Master’s in Linguistics from The University of Manchester, where she currently works in a public engagement and communications role. Hazel enjoys writing everything from bold and bright laugh-out-loud picture books like Boots and Cats, to mindful, gentle stories and she is particularly fond of all things spooky.
Fred Blunt has illustrated dozens of books including Boots and Cats. Humour has always been top of Fred’s list when it comes to drawing and writing. Right from those early (rather unflattering) portraits of teachers, Fred knew he wanted to entertain with his work. Now writing and illustrating his own, very silly picture books and children’s fiction – Fred couldn’t be happier. Fred lives in Wiltshire, with his wife Clare, two children Bonnie and Sonny, and their retired Greyhound, Olive.
Conrad Murray is an award-winning writer, rapper, beatboxer, teacher and artistic director of the Beatbox Academy at the BAC. Well-regarded in the beatbox space, Conrad runs an incredibly diverse, grassroots initiative for free with Battersea Arts Centre.
