Stretching from the North Sea to the Solway Firth, the Border region has a sharply diverse landscape.

It was a battleground for over 300 years as the English and Scottish monarchs encouraged their subjects to conduct raids across their respective borders. This Warrior book details how this narrow strip of land influenced the Borderer's way of life in times of war.

Covering every aspect of militant life, from the choice of weapons and armour to the building of fortified houses, this book explores what it must have been like to live life in a late-medieval war zone.

Keith Durham lives in Northumberland and is the author of Men-at-Arms 279: The Border Reivers and Fortress 70: Strongholds of the Border Reivers. He is also a skilled and respected sculptor of historical miniatures and has produced master figures for a number of companies including Poste Militaire.

Gerry Embleton has been a leading illustrator and researcher of historical costume since the 1970s, and has illustrated and written Osprey books on a wide range of subjects for more than 20 years. His son Sam Embleton is also an illustrator and this is their seventh joint project for Osprey.
